Case Example

An  apartment building that provides rental student & short stay accommodation to nearby University students and lecturers.  Initially, utility costs were allowed in the weekly rent per room but over time actual use far exceeded budgeted allowances.

The owner eventually installed prepaid meters plus a bulk buy to reduce the buildings total electricity costs to the apartments and common areas. The result was a huge reduction in tenant usage and so total costs were reduced dramatically.

If a tenant exceeded his allowance and/or didn’t prepay for extra further energy use, their meter did not allow any further energy to flow through until another payment was made.
